@ tetra3000 – I use both Avast and MSE together and have no conflicts whatsoever and if you read the article about Avast on my site it explains it further :-)

  2. tetra3000 says:

isnt it bad having 2 security programmes running at the same time (Avast & MSE). Dont they conflict each other

  3. cotojo1253 says:

pkot30 – Using Avast/Avira alongside MSE gives good realtime protection and all are free. Spyware Doctor – PC Tools now owned by Norton/Symantec and peddled as a ‘cure all’ by thousands of afiliates. MBAM is a better scanner used on demand :-)

  4. pkot30 says:

…Avast, Avira, MSE – they all include antimalware protection , but probably all they need something like that ( from free software ) for realtime monitoring?

  5. pkot30 says:

anyway – i still like it ))) i just can`t forget when ad-aware did find 2 Backdoors on my pc after full scan with Spyware Doctor…Yes – it becomes bloated, but i think detection still good )) Ad – Watch works good for me and i think there are no so many free antimalware which include realtime protection and autoupdates))) BUT – Malwarebytes still the best )) i like` em both)))))))))

  6. cotojo1253 says:

pkot30 – SUPERantispyware has auto updates in the pro version just as Malwarebytes does, and both perform better than Ad-Aware even the free versions which require manual updating :-)

  7. pkot30 says:

There is one good thing in this software – automatic updates. It will be great if SuperAntispyware free version will have this option in future )) and progress scale during scan also))

Issaland – 2007 was ok, 2008 downhill slide but Anniversary Edition lost the way completely with it’s extra bloat and lack of actually finding anything. Sadly, many still hang on to the name, as they do with AVG, but there are far better apps such a MBAM, SUPER, MSE, Avast, Avira and so on, all perform well above the ‘old names’ and users need to update their mind frame as well as their technology :-)

  9. cotojo1253 says:

deadly1010P – certainly not one of my favorite apps, lost that a long time ago. many others shine whereas Ad-Aware lost the way :-)

  10. Issaland says:

“It’s one of those apps that users continue to use because of the name”
That’s right. And it is still, for who know what reasons, on the top of CNet’s download list
Ad-Aware has 8 points from editors and 2.8 from users on my favorite download website. CNet is know all round the world so I think it is very possible that employees, for example, from Lavasoft would download their product and rate it very high. That is why I don’t believe in CNet’s ratings.

  11. Issaland says:

Thank you for this review! I’m not surprised that Lavasoft failed with it’s flag program – Ad-Aware. I use to used 2007 and 2008 versions but I wasn’t happy at all with that heavy, bloated crap which was freezing during full system scan and all that it could found was some kind of cookies lol Malwarebytes is way better.
There’s no proactive protection, scanner fails so I don’t understand why people still give a damn for such programs (e.g. Ad-Aware, IObit 360 or Spyware Terminator).

  12. deadly1010P says:

ad-aware is crappy, get MBAM or SAS
    @virkelie2

  13. deadly1010P says:

    ad-aware is pure fail

  14. cotojo1253 says:

virkelie2 – Good to hear that Ad-Watch Live works for you. There are still better realtime antimalware programs though and this is not one of my favorites :-)

  15. virkelie2 says:

    I just installed ad-aware 2009.
Ad-Watch Live works on my computer.

I have no experience as to the quality of the program.

  16. cotojo1253 says:

@BigGeekDaddy – I stopped using it too. It’s one of those apps that users continue to use because of the name, but it is not one I would recommend. I did cover Super a while ago but need to update on that one as it is also a good scanner :-)

  17. cotojo1253 says:

GunnyBunnio – I agree, it used to be good, but those days have long gone and there are far better programs than this and with more functionality :-)

  18. BigGeekDaddy says:

Good video showing how to use Ad Aware. I stopped using it several years ago and after watching this see no reason to start again.

Have you done one on SuperAntiSpyware? Be curious to see how that performs.

  19. GunnyBunnio says:

worst anti spyware i have used, that is supposed to be “good”
