I have an external USB finger print reader from Microsoft that only works with Windows XP.

When I put 7 enterprise on my HP DV4t I was without my fingerprint reader for a month. Then 7 was officially released and HP had a driver ready for the fingerprint reader. Just wait, and your vender will create a driver.
